All-new last year, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class takes the quality and comfortable luxury the sedan is known for and injects a healthy dose of sporty fun. The latest iteration is both larger and lighter than the last one, and both the attractive body and upscale interior are reminiscent of the ultra-lux full-size S-Class sedan. There is no shortage of compelling sport sedans out there, but the C-Class offers a level of comfort and elegance that isn’t available elsewhere. There’s also plenty of variety in the lineup, including a new plug-in hybrid option and three fire-breathers from AMG. It is also Kelley Blue Book’sLuxury Car Best Buy for the second year in a row.
Driving It
From our 2016 Mercedes-Benz C-Class review: “A lightweight body makes the C-Class feel more tossable, although there is still more steering isolation than with a similar-size BMW or Cadillac. On the flip side, the C-Class chassis demonstrates an undeniable solidity that reinforces a feeling of safety and competence.”
New Coupe on the Way
While dealers still have some coupes on their showroom floors, if you want a coupe based on the newest C-Class platform, you’ll have to wait until spring 2016 when the 2017 C-Class coupe goes on sale. The C300 and C300 4MATIC are longer and wider than the previous coupe, with a sportier suspension. We expect an AMG-tuned coupe to go on sale soon after.
